Winter Flower Patch
When the weather gets cold and the snow is dirty and icy, it's time to stay inside and practice with the macro lens. I have an African Violet that is just starting to bloom.
The big flower on top began to open earlier this week.
I have very little practice with a flash, but I knew if I aimed it right, I could get the background darker.
I decided to experiment with the warm light coming through the window yesterday in the late afternoon, so I propped the plant in the top of the couch. I put the plant back in its north facing window afterward. A lady I knew when I was first married was an avid orchid grower, and she told me to always put my African Violets in a north window.
Tomorrow, I may try waiting until it's dark and seeing what happens with light coming from above.
